“When we all meet for our working sessions the buzz and excitement in the room is infectious”
The process so far has been nothing short of incredible. From the 3rd December to this present moment it has been an amazing journey. As actors it’s very rare we get an opportunity to work on a project from the ground up, build our own characters, have the director with you throughout the process and take up roles and responsibilities on the production side of things.
We all started with 3 ideas for a character. We pitched our ideas to everyone and then we picked one. First we did some hot seating so we could learn more about them, then wrote and performed a monologue as part of the process to help discover them. Once our characters were more three dimensional we started to put them together and do improvisations to see how they would respond and interact with everyone. This part of the process was really key, we soon found out what our socialising groups would be and who we did and didn’t like (in character ha).
Throughout the weeks we started to do more improvisations and play with ideas that could be scenes within our project. All of these would be recorded, we would transcribe our improvisations and send them over to Paul. This has helped him piece part of the script together. I believe for the majority we will continue working in this way until the script is complete.
That is a small insight into our process so far, now I want to quickly talk about us as a collective.
When we all meet for our working sessions the buzz and excitement in the room is infectious. Together I truly believe we are a force to be reckoned with, when we are working we vibrate on a high frequency which can only bring good to us and that shows in the work we create together. We won’t stop until our project is complete. We all share that goal and believe in this project! I leave every session on a high, in awe of everybody’s talent and commitment to this project. It leaves me wanting more and excited to get back in the room with everyone.
It’s going to be something special.
